FAQs
-
Sessions are always 50 minutes. This gives enough time to settle in, explore, and finish in a steady way.
-
Online sessions for adults start at £50. In-person sessions for children and young people start at £65. Concessions may be available — please feel free to ask.
-
In-person sessions for children and young people take place at my office inside Einstein 11+ Tuition Centre, 162 High St, Harborne, Birmingham B17 9PN. Adult sessions are online, via Google Meet.
-
There’s no fixed number — counselling can be short-term or longer-term. I offer open-ended work, with regular reviews so we can decide together what feels right.
-
Counselling is confidential, and it works best when children feel they have a private space to talk. I don’t share session details unless there’s a safeguarding concern, but I do offer regular reviews with parents to talk about progress and general themes.
-
It’s natural for some children to feel unsure at first. We can take things gently and at their pace, using play or creative activities to help them feel more comfortable. If they are adamant about not wanting to participate, they do not have to, as they have to give assent in order to receive counselling.
-
I work with children (from around age 5 upwards), young people, and adults.
-
If I believe a child is at risk of harm, I have a duty to share my concerns with safeguarding services. Wherever safe and appropriate, I will involve parents in this process.
-
Adult sessions are held online using Google Meet. You’ll need a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable.
-
The first session is about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to counselling, go over a simple counselling agreement, and explore whether working together feels like a good fit.
-
Yes — everything we talk about is confidential, unless there is a risk of harm to you, a child, or another person. In that situation, I may need to share information with safeguarding services, but I will always try to discuss this with you first.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged in full.
-
Payment is usually made by bank transfer in advance of each session.
If you’re thinking about counselling for yourself or your child, the first step is a simple initial chat. This is a chance to ask questions, talk through what you’re looking for, and see if counselling feels like a good fit.
